Study Abroad in Angers, France

I am studying French at the Université Catholique de l'Ouest in Angers, France for four weeks. I will be staying with a host family and going to class almost every day. I will be going on a few short excursions with the group, but other than that I will primarily be in Angers. As I learn new things and go on exciting adventures I will post the pictures and tell you all about my experiences!

Me in a Nutshell

My name is Rachel Roth.  I grew up in Canby, Oregon with my family.  I have two brothers, Spencer and Tyson, and a sister Tonja.  I lived in Canby all my life until I graduated High School and moved to Corvallis, Oregon to pursue a degree at Oregon State University.  While I was there I swam on the swim team for my full four years of eligibility.  After retiring in the spring and finishing all of my OSU required classes in the summer, I am now finishing my degree in France.  Once I have completed my program I will be receiving a degree in Speech Communication from the College of Liberal Arts at OSU.

My freshman year of high school I met this one boy that would one day turn out to be my husband.  Of course I had no clue at the time and would have laughed if anyone would have suggested it.  We were best friends all through high school, and remained good friends in college.  Chris Roth went to Oregon State as well and our sophomore year he moved into an apartment with my best friend Karri-ann and myself.  By Christmas our relationship had changed quite a bit.  After going on a romantic dinner cruise on the Portland Spirit sparks started to fly and soon after we were dating.  We dated for two years before he proposed on the Portland Water Front before our annual Portland Spirit dinner cruise.  We were only engaged for three months before we decided to surprise our friends and family by getting married at our small engagement party.  We now are living happily in a very small apartment in Corvallis.  After we finish our undergrad degrees Chris plans on attending graduate school elsewhere. Other than grad school our future plans include lots of traveling.

A little bit more about me personally - I love the outdoors.  As I have gotten older I have fallen more and more in love with the Pacific NW.  I think Oregon is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and even though it rains most of the time it is worth it because everything is so green and vibrant.  I also love working out, being physically active, spending time with friends, being creative, spending time with family and going on adventures to experience new things.  I am not much of a movie or tv person and I love almost every type of music.  (almost meaning that I am not much of a fan of techno or most pop music, I like real music!)  I love to cook and Chris and I have made trying new dishes one of our favorite hobbies.

I am one very blessed girl.
